a little like winter

November 2nd, 2005

It snowed last night, big wet flakes that coat the roof, the trees, and even the backyard clothesline. This morning, the street is carved with tracks of early-morning commuters. For me, it’s still 9am and not yet time to enter the world.

In a few hours, I get to pick up the new indiKnits patterns. They’re not yet even on my website, but I have a pdf version of my updated catalog of knitting patterns.

Sandra has spent many many hours creating a new brand for the business… something snazzier than the Arial Black font, photocopied onto speckled cardstock. She’s seen the proofs from the printer… I have not.

In an hour, we get to call and find out if they’re ready to be picked up before I have to be at work at noon.

I suppose I don’t have to contain my geeky excitement. It’s a big step. It’s a big leap. It’s no small cost, but if it improves the product and allows me to distribute more widely, it’s well worth the time and effort. I hope.

Tomorrow is the start of my shifted weekend, so I’ll have some time to focus on a few test patterns. I have one written and just need to proof and stick into a pdf for all you loverly test knitters.

I also have to spend some time working on a Knitty submission, as well as some design proposals for various books and magazines.

It’s like I have two jobs, really.

Not that I’m complaining. I do feel blessed to be able to talk, think, and live something I love.
