crochet 101
I’ve been immersed in the main instructional content for my crochet book over the last few days. It’s fun but painstakingly slow at times. I’m hoping to get this, the largest chapter of the book, handed off today before lunch. (Of course, chances would be greatly improved if I actually started writing instead of blogging. Shhhh. Don’t tell!)
Because the instructions would only be half complete without some sort of art or illustration, I’ve had my camera set up on a tripod to take all sorts of photos.
So far, I have 74 in the chapter. Once I hand these off, they’ll either be converted into line art or used as positioning for the real photo shoot. I’m not sure.
It’s been an interesting process so far, the writing. I’ve discovered that I work best in a non-linear fashion, when I’m allowed to follow my thoughts rather than work my way straight through the table of contents I developed. And so, I think I’m much further along than the number of handed off pages shows. So, I’m working this week to get more and more off my desktop.
The thing is, I think it’s good. I’m thrilled with how the table of contents came together. I’m thrilled that I have the space to not only feature some great designs from some fantastic designers, but I also have the page count to talk yarn. To talk technique. To talk spin and color and fit.
It’s going to be an exciting year, for sure. The book is off my plate in April. It’s in stores in September. And with the store and everything else? Exciting.

Okay, I admit it. My curiosity got the better of me. I was driving around Bridgeland, looking for a sign to the new store, almost got into an accident, and could find nothing. Where? When? Enquiring minds want to know!
