My Dad, the Trooper

July 31st, 2007

I swear this man is bionic. Just a few hours after the flawless hip replacement surgery, he was not only sitting up in bed, but standing and walking a few steps. He’s in good spirits and feeling pretty good… I know the pain meds help so much, but it’s nice to see him telling jokes.

Oddly enough, and in true St. Charles fashion, my dad knows the guy sharing his room! My mom knows him too… they used to work together when they were in their early 20s. So, that’s been kind of fun, and very small world-ish.

I’ve spent the day fielding cell phone calls (since when have these things been allowed on in hospitals??), running back to the house to let Maggie out, and trying to get the newly-finished sock club pattern to print from the store in Calgary. (Yeah, I know, what can I really do from here?)

In the meantime, I did start a new sock out of some of the Cherry Tree Hill Supersock we received last week. It’s yummy yarn, but I’m not sure I picked the right colourway for me right now. It’s not really thrilling me, although it is pretty enough. I’ll take a photo tomorrow, and will probably be right in love with it by then anyway!

glad to hear your Dad is doing well! Mom had her knee replaced last summer. they told her that she needed to move it soon and often b/c it is the only opportunity to gain range of motion. bearing weight on it helps the healing process.

take a deep breath and RELAX now!!!

Glad you’re there to help your folks. I assume Maggie is the dog and not a relative?
