Cable me
A few days ago, probably in response to the cooler-than-usual fall-like weather, I cast on for this new design. It’s a “traditional” aran sweater knit from the shoulders down with minimal seaming. (In fact, I don’t think it’s going to need a stitch of seaming at all!)
What’s pictured above is the second try on this one. My first front/back chart was just too narrow and ended up with a neck sized for a six year old. Oops. So, back to the drawing board and a few hours of knitting later, I have a good start on a garment that should fit the way I want it. More or less.
I’m knitting with Shepherd’s Shades from Brown Sheep Company. A new yarn this season, it’s a wierdly crispy cabled yarn; 3 2-ply strands plied together. It’s also ever-so-slightly thick and thin. I’m really loving how it’s working up for this design, and the colour is so dreamy as well! I can see wearing this one a lot very very soon. Wouldn’t it be a great sweater to wear to SOAR? Wouldn’t it look beautiful with crisp fall leaves?
With August drawing to the close, I can already tell it’s going to be an interesting and exciting autumn.

*sigh* if only we had your kind of autumn, ours is sweltering.
wanted to know, you made a purpley retro-femme shirt back in feb (http://www.indigirl.com/blog/?p=695), and i was wondering where that fabulous pattern was published.
i hope you post some more pictures on the progress of the sweater!

Beautiful cables. What color is the wool? I may need to get some of that myself….. And are you going to offer the pattern for sale?
