Finished Knits. At longlast.

September 12th, 2008

Firebird Monkeys!

It feels like a long time since I’ve finished anything I could show you, so voila, a pair of Monkeys knit with BMFA STR Lightweight in Firebird.

I’ve knit these for…. gasp… someone else. Can you believe it? I never do thing like this, and yet how could I resist signing up for a sock swap, organized by Marilynn, who just celebrated a whopping 2 years of gainful employment at Make One. Wow.

Just like my first pair of Monkey socks, I worked these with my standard short row heel. Why? Not because I dislike the flap heel, just because both times, I’ve lost my printed pattern by the time I got to the heel.

One thing I love about this pattern is how logical it is, therefore making it easy to memorize. Great for train knitting while commuting to work, or for working away when I’m too sleepy to do much else.

Tonight is the swap and I’m excited – and curious – to see who’ll get these. I desperately hope she likes pink.

Those turned out beautifully! I love the yarn you chose. I’m working on a pair of No-Purl Monkeys using some Regia Nation (the Germany colourway) and it’s looking really nice with the broad stripes of colour. The stitch pattern -is- easy to memorize, but for some reason it took me most of one leg to get it to click in my brain. Now I’m sailing along!
