Toronto Dogs
The dogs are doing great in the big city. At first, Jackson was a little nervous about all of the new sights and smells, and especially, people. He can be an anxious dog at times. We suspect it’s because he had been abandoned at 4 months, and went through at least four homes in a short period of time. The first few walks were an adventure for sure. He’d take offense to someone – anyone – and start barking his head off.
Great welcome to the city, eh?
Now, a little over a week in, he’s doing a lot better. He seems more relaxed, and really is enjoying walks down the sidewalk rather than through the woods.
Sandra and I have been exploring the various off-leash options available to Toronto dogs and their humans. Last Sunday afternoon, we went to Kew Beach and let them play in the water (green flag, I think) for a bit.
Naturally, they were extremely happy.
Toronto dog owners, if you have any tips or advice for us, we’d love to hear it!

Sorry, Amy, when I lived in T.O. I had cats…but I lived about 2 blocks from where you took these pictures. Now I’m terribly homesick for the Beaches! I do recall my neighborhood being wonderfully dog friendly. there’s a little ravine park further east on Queen St. East, on the north side of the street. My friends’ dogs always used to tear around there happily. Enjoy!

I’m sorry to hear the trip went so badly, but I’m happy the whole family arrived safe and sound. I hope you find some lovely places to take the dogs.
Tummy rubs all around.

ken takes the dog and boy to the Brick Works for fun and runs. Also to Ashbrigdes Bay in the beach area. Check that though, rules are always changing. Hope that helps. kisses to you and yours. Welcome home.

Glad to hear everything is getting better, for you, Sandra and the boys. Going to miss you girls like crazy! Say “Hi” to Sandra for me and let her know that if she wants to take my boys (kids and dog) for a week or two (NOT forever), they’re here for her.

I am so very happy for you guys to have all of your happy family in one place. I know the trip didn’t turn out as expected, but you must be so relieved to have everyone together again. I’m excited for you.

I think it’s hard all around with dog friendly places. It’s too bad you didn’t (I assume you didn’t) make it out to WoofStock. Lots of great ideas there.
I know that Brampton & Mississauga have some nice leash free – there’s a really nice one in Burlington as well. That’s if you feel like a drive.
BTW, there are several Provincial Parks that have dog beaches! Awenda & the Pinnery come to mind.
