Karen Shawl Pattern: NowAvailable!

December 9th, 2009

Karen Shawl

Like many knitters, my stash overflows with handpainted sock yarn, usually in 100g skeins. If I knit only socks, I would have yarn to last for several years. Instead, I wanted to design a simply addictive shoulder shawl pattern. One that would be easy enough for knitting on my commute to work, but interesting enough to keep me motivated through the final stitches.

Karen Shawl

With a knit-on garter stitch border, this elegant shawl features many common lace-knitting techniques in an easy to memorize pattern. Named for my mother, I knit hers as a holiday gift, using the black merino/angora shown in the photos.

A Shawl for Mom

Instructions are provided in both charted and written out form. If you haven’t yet worked with lace charts, this may be your perfect first project! Try following along with the charts as you work through the written pattern.

Only $4.50US as a Ravelry download.

I just want you to know that I follow you and that I admire you a lot. I’m currently knitting your ‘Stolen Moments’ wrap and enjoying its simplicity and beauty very much. My father went into a nursing facility last spring after a seizure. I know what you are going through. It’s hard. I’m glad that you are able to be there with your parents.
