Something Sparkly

Handspun

A few years ago, I was a very happy subscriber to the Flawful Fibers Batt of the Month club. I can’t remember now if it was every month, or every other month, but like clockwork, I’d receive one preciously gorgeous batt after another. So precious, and I loved them all so dearly, that I put off spinning them for… well… years.

What you see here was from my absolute favorite of the batch. Blues and natural white mixed with angelina and silk for some sparkly shine. Looking at it was like opening the shades onto a morning after an ice storm; cold and crisp and lovely.

Sparkles

I wish I had taken some “pre” photographs of this project! But if you close your eyes, you can probably imagine what it started out as.

I decided to spin a soft two ply (shocking, I know, and ended up with 175 yards of aran-weight yarn. I want mittens, but I’ll probably have to content myself with a cowl or a hat.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Flawful Fibers is still around. I had wanted to sign up for another year, but the owner told me she was no longer running the club. I guess that just makes the few remaining kits I have all the more precious.

I had no idea you spun!

This blanket is beautiful and the photography is breathtaking!

Want to throw a few details out there for us copycats?

I’ve been poring over Ravelry blanket patterns for a week, looking for something simple (no mitred squares, no log cabins, nothing lacy) to use up my Noro Silk Garden bits.

I’d happily pay for a pattern if you’re inclined to write it up! Bet some others would too!
